Free pattern – Autumn Cornucopia

cornucopia at knotions

For the first time ever, one of my designs has been published in an online knitting magazine!

My Autumn Cornucopia shawl can be found in the November issue of Knotions, and best of all, it is completely free.

The best things about autumn are leaves that change their color, and having a walk through them on a day with clear, blue skies. The colors of both come together in this shawl to create a cornucopia, shaped with short rows, from which a bounty of leaves spills. Picots along the inner edge and eyelets along the outer edge add some visual interest.

The garter stitch part of Autumn Cornucopia knits up quickly, and the contrasting coloured short rows don’t just help with the shaping, but add visual interest to an otherwise simple construction. The lace part is a bit more challenging, but can be handled by an adventurous beginner.

You can download the pattern at Knotions, and if you want to queue it or add it to your library, you can do so on Ravelry. If you like the pattern, I would appreciate and likes or comments on this post or on Ravelry.

Soon available – Autumn Cornucopia

cornucopia

On Saturday, November 18 2017, the November issue of Knotions will be released and my shawl pattern Autumn Cornucopia will be available there for free!

Autumn Cornucopia is an asymmetrical garter stitch shawl with short row shaping to give it the form of a cornucopia – from the end of which a bounty of leaves is spilling, created by a beautiful lace pattern from Gannet Designs.

A row of eyelets along one edge and picots along the ather add visual interest and keep the garter stitch part interesting.

If you would like the pattern, please look at Knotions.com from November 18 2017.

Coming soon – Hidden way home shawl

hidden teaser

Worked in DK weight yarn, Hidden Way Home knits up quickly despite its size.

With this shawl you can give your friends and loved ones the warmth and comfort of home, and your embrace. When they are away from you and they put it on, it is as if they have found a hidden way home, visible only for themselves—for the rest of the world, it is just a beautiful accessory. If you make it for yourself, you will feel as warm and comfortable as you are at home, even if you are far away.

The unusual shape is achieved by first knitting the angled part on the bias, then picking up stitches along the straight short edge and continuing in the same two-colour pattern of textured stripes. The contrasting colour eyelet rows accentuate the shaping and add more visual interest.

Pattern will be released on November 13 2017, if you want to make sure not to miss it, sign up for my newsletter – there’s a special discount waiting for you if you do.
